Our trees are dying... our forests are dying
It is what is confirmed to us day after day, when we discover that our country loses about 31 thousand hectares annually of the total area of forests.
The Sidi Boughaba Reserve is all that remains of a forest that once covered the entire northwestern coast of Ma'rib.
Gweiba, despite its small area, is one of the most important humid Moroccan regions.
Many types of local plants grow in it, such as the red juniper, which is the last witness to the plants that were in the ancient northwest of Morocco. It has a fresh-water lake, representing the last freshwater lake on the Moroccan shores.
The episode is a warning against the decline of the wet and green areas in Morocco, and an invitation to preserve our environment intact and pure, to pass it on to our children and grandchildren as we received it before from our parents and grandparents.
