The lionesses of the Atlas

The women of Imilchil are icons of the Atlas Mountains—a symbol of sacrifice, generosity, and selflessness. They carry countless responsibilities and obligations, yet they are the only ones who have no right to rest, to tire, or to fall ill.
These women, in their characteristics, evoke the world of lions, where the lionesses shoulder countless duties and are deeply involved in family affairs, even though the males are often stronger and more capable of doing so."
It is as if these human lionesses are the shadow left behind by the extinct lionesses of old, or perhaps they carry the lingering pain of what those lionesses endured before their disappearance.
